National Costume Picnic in the garden of Holm House

kuvaaja_Marko_Wahlström (4)

A free-form picnic to air out traditional clothing at the backyard of Holm House (Välikatu 11, Porvoo) on Wed 6.8. at 16.00-18.00.

Wear a traditional national costume, a folk dress or a recreation of ancient clothes. You can also combine a single traditional item of clothing with modern clothes. Or come with a folk dress attitude and wear a summer dress! Bring your picnic foods and come meet other folk dress fans and to celebrate the birthday of the Finnish national costume.

Alongside the picnic, you’ll have the chance to learn about the ongoing textile heritage project at the Porvoo Museum. The project will be presented by researcher Helena Hämäläinen. You can also learn about the national costumes in general through literature and examples.

Free entrance to Porvoo Museum (Holm House and the Old Town Hall) all day for anyone dressed in a national costume.
