Plan Your Visit

Porvoo Museum’s exhibitions are located in the Old Town of Porvoo along the Old Town Square, addresses Välikatu 11 and Jokikatu 45. The buildings are from the 1700s and the premises are not accessible nor do they have elevators.

Accessibility

The Old Town Square of Porvoo and all the streets leading up to it are fully paved with cobblestones.

The Old Town Hall

There are five steps to the entrance of the building.

The building has three floors and the exhibitions are distributed in the building so that in the first floor there are two exhibitions with no stairs and one exhibition at ground level with seven descending steps from the first floor. There are seats in the exhibitions for the public to sit.

There are 19 steps between the first floor and the second. There are 19 step between te second floor and the third. The stairwell is equipped with a railing in places, but not throughout. There is no elevator in the building.

There are no public toilets in the building.

There are no handrails in the exhibition spaces. Blind and visually impaired visitors are not recommended to visit the exhibitions without an assistant.

Holm House

There are five steps to the entrance of the building. Immediately after the front door there are another seven steps.

A rather steep, cobblestoned hill leads to the back door of the building. The distance from the front door to the back door is 50 meters. Inside the back door there is a ramp that leads to the museum shop and the exhibition/workshop space on the first floor of the building.  

The exhibition is upstairs. There are 20 stairs in the stairwell, as well as a handrail that can be used for support. There is no elevator in the building. There are seats in the exhibitions for the public to sit.

The public toilets are in the basement level, with 18 steps down from the ground floor.

There are no handrails in the exhibition spaces. Blind and visually impaired visitors are recommended to visit the exhibitions with an assistant.

Arrival

Parking

The Porvoo Old Town has very limited parking for private vehicles. The museum doesn’t have parking places reserved for visitors near the premises. The closest paid parking is 150 meters away on Rihkamatori. The closest free parking is 300 meters away on Kalevankatu. By bus

In The Museum

Cloakroom

Coat racks and lockers with locks can be found in the lobbies. Leave your possessions at your own risk.

Photography

It is okay to take photographs in the museum for your own use without flash or tripod.

Animals

Pets are not allowed in the museum, but guide dogs, assistance dogs, hearing dogs and hypo dogs are welcome with their handlers.
