Fingerpori. Images of Fingerpori

5.6.2026−10.1.2027

Pertti Jarla’s illustrations of a town, its history, and its inhabitants that have appeared in newspapers for 20 years.

Fingerpori. Images of Fingerpori is a solo exhibition by comic artist Pertti Jarla at Porvoo Museum’s Old Town Hall (5 June 2026 – 10 January 2027). Both the museum and Fingerpori celebrate milestone anniversaries: Porvoo Museum turns 130, and Fingerpori 20. The exhibition is also the artist’s first museum show.

Porvoo Museum’s exhibition programme has traditionally focused on historical art and period interiors. Contemporary art is rarely shown at the Old Town Hall.

Now the museum gives space to the multi-layered world of Fingerpori. The comic is a sharp-eyed portrayal of society and human nature. Through caricature, Jarla explores everyday life with its taboos and mannerisms.

With the title Images of Fingerpori, Jarla alludes to Jörn Donner’s cult documentary Perkele! Images from Finland, in which ordinary people were given a voice.
